National Biomedical Resource for Advanced ESR Spectroscopy |
The annual workshop for 2024 will be on "Advances in Electron Spin Resonance" on September 13 through 15, 2024 at Cornell University. For more information and how to sign up for the workshop, please go to our Workshop page. |
Welcome to the National Resource for Advanced Electron-Spin Resonance Spectroscopy (ACERT) at Cornell University, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology in Ithaca, New York. It is an R24 National and Regional Resource Center, funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Resource Director is Jack H Freed, and the Co-Director is Brian Crane. It is the only user Resource of its type in the United States. It provides an extensive range of modern ESR facilities for biomedical researchers. It is based on our 30 plus years in the development of ESR for biomedical studies. Our instruments provide the capabilities of studying protein structure/function as well as protein and membrane dynamics using techniques of spin labeling. Our instruments are highly sensitive, yet our signal processing methods enable us to recover excellent signals from even weak experimental ones, such as for spin trapping and many other ESR applications. These facilities and technology are available to users. We will conduct experiments on our instruments as needed and/or train the user on their use, and we will provide you with the data and their interpretation. Please contact us or make a request for services. |
